This upper body mobility session, led by Pieter, is specifically programmed to enhance the health and capacity of your shoulders, elbows, and wrists. The class begins with a comprehensive full-body "CARs sweep" - covering the spine, neck, scaps, hips, and lower limbs - to prime your joints and map your available range of motion.
Key segments of this session include:
• Banded Shoulder & Elbow Work: Using a resistance band, you will perform axial rotations and eccentric shoulder flexion to build strength and control while the tissues are under tension. Targeted work for the inside and outside of the elbows is also included to improve resilience.
• Isometric Loading (PAILs/RAILs): The session features high-intensity PAILs and RAILs (Progressive/Regressive Angular Isometric Loading) for shoulder internal and external rotation, as well as wrist extension.
• Shoulder Swimmers: The class concludes with controlled swimmers to promote rotational relaxation and integrate the work done throughout the session.
Equipment needed:
Yoga blocks, a resistance band, and a stretch strap (preferably a non-elastic stretch strap).
